Testing Requirements

Administrative Station

  • Required for test administration, candidate check-in and other tasks. Examinees must present a photo ID at check in and cannot bring ANYTHING into the room. Provide safe storage for personal belongings (wallet, purse, cellphone, etc.) outside of the room.

Proctor Station

  • Must be located outside of the testing room and the testing room must have a video surveillance system which allows camera monitoring of all candidates within the testing room. Testers must be monitored by proctors at all times.

Testing Stations

  • Required for delivering tests (one testing station per candidate)

Rooms

  • Testing must take place in a dedicated room with the door shut and located so candidate will not be disturbed by outside noise. Testing room access must be restricted once testing begins.
  • Test room must be large enough to comfortably place testing stations and chairs and must be well-ventilated, with continuous air circulation, with comfortable consistent temperature, and adequate lighting such that testers can view and read the computer screen with no glare.
  • Testing room shall be free from any other activity during testing sessions; during non-testing time, the testing room may be available for other uses.
  • Computer testing stations must be separated with a suitable partition or spaced five feet apart and test station table surface must be large enough to accommodate the monitor, keyboard, mouse pad and applicable testing materials.

Preparation

  • A link to access the exam (https://home.pearsonvue.com/psb/onvue) should be made available to the applicants either by writing the URL on a blackboard or bookmarking the link in the preferred browser. Once the applicant signs in and has access to the exam a secure per-session browser will be downloaded and installed for use during testing. Make sure your IT enables the download and installation with each testing.
  • A whiteboard is available with the exam and should be used as scratch paper however if scratch paper and a writing utensil is provided to applicants that must be collected at end of the exam.

Exam Usage Requirements

Tests can be utilized by individuals with one of the backgrounds below as determined by the exam purchase, along with formal training in the ethical use, administration, and interpretation of standardized assessment tools and psychometrics:

  • A Doctorate Degree in psychology or a related discipline (e.g., counseling, education, human resources, social work, etc.)
    OR
  • Licensure or certification to practice in your state in the healthcare or allied healthcare field related to the purchase
    OR
  • The Direct Supervision of a qualified psychologist or a qualified professional in a related discipline.

Technical Requirements (including for at home testing)

Your computer must have Firefox or Google Chrome, and Javascript must be enabled. Additionally your screen’s resolution should be set to a minimum of 1024×768 for testing. See table below.

Windows 10 (64-bit) (excluding 'S Mode')
Windows 8.1 (64-bit) (all editions except 'RT')
Mac Mac OS 10.13 and above (excluding beta versions)

Note: Windows Operating Systems must pass Genuine Windows Validation. Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 7 are strictly prohibited for exam delivery. All Linux/Unix based Operating Systems are strictly prohibited.

Firewall

  • Do not take your exam in a setting with a corporate firewall (including VPN) or alert your Network Administrator to the network configuration requirements. We recommend testing on a personal computer. Work computers generally have more restrictions that may prevent successful delivery.

Device

  • All tablets are strictly forbidden, unless it has a physical keyboard and meets the operating system requirements mentioned earlier.

RAM

  • OS specified minimum RAM
  • 4 GB RAM or more

Display

  • Minimum Resolution: 1024 x 768 in 16-bit color.
  • Additional monitors are forbidden.

Internet Browser

  • The newest versions of Microsoft Edge, Safari, Chrome, and Firefox or Internet Explorer 11.

Internet Connection

  • For optimal performance, a reliable and stable connection speed of 3 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up is required.
  • Where possible, we recommend testing on a wired network as opposed to a wireless network.
  • If testing from home, ask others within the household to avoid internet use during your exam session.
  • Tethering to a mobile hotspot is explicitly prohibited.

Webcam

  • Webcam must have a minimum resolution of 640x480 @ 10 fps.
  • Webcam may be internal or may be external and connected to the computer.
  • Mac users may need to allow OnVUE within their ‘System Preferences: Security & Privacy: Privacy’ settings for Microphone, Camera, Automation and Input Monitoring.

Sound & Microphone

  • Verify the audio and microphone are not set on mute in Windows.
  • Mac users may need to allow OnVUE within their ‘System Preferences: Security & Privacy: Privacy’ settings for Microphone, Camera, Automation and Input Monitoring.

Browser Settings

  • Internet Cookies must be enabled.
  • Any Pop-Up blocking setting(s) must be disabled.

Power

  • Ensure you are connected to a power source before starting your exam to avoid draining your battery during the exam.
